ABK DC - Launched
With AMMA’s infinite grace, the AMMA DC Satang initiated AMRITA BALA KENDRA (ABK) classes on January 16, 2010 at the recently inaugurated MA CENTER at the Potomac, MD suburb of Washington DC. Fourteen children were enrolled in the program, in three classes organized by age group - Shravanam for 4-5 year olds, Mananam for 7-10 year olds, and Dhyanam for children 11 years or older. They were supported by eight enthusiastic and committed volunteer teachers. ABK classes are scheduled to be held on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 5:00pm to 6:30pm, prior to the start of regular Satsang at the Center at 7:00pm.All the children and their parents participated in the common Assembly portion of the session, which included starting prayers, a brief meditation session, ABK program orientation for the children and parents present, bhajan practice, Aarathi and closing prayers. The children then dispersed to their respective classes. where they were introduced to AMMA's Hand of Values.
Special thanks to Prana Thoppil, ABK Program Coordinator, for the guidance and support she provided, as well as generously sharing excellent curriculum material developed by the Dallas ABK Program.
